As of April 5, 2010, a new (and this time effective) Government program will go into effect, providing a real solution for those individuals and families trapped in upside down mortgages. Known as HAFA (Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives), it is essentially a Federally administered mortgage bailout for homeowners. Among the many benefits to qualified participants are: no costs now or in the future, freedom from all future liability, and a cash payment to help become reestablished.
